Join ResearchGate to find the people and research you need to help your work. ptyas is one of those odd snakes, its called a ratsnake snake but its not really, its own thing, but ratsnake is just a convienent name for any rodent eater, their one of the few true basking snakes, theres not as many true basking snakes as u would think, species that seek out a perch and sun themselves but ptyas is one, as are spilotes some of the european whips etc, so the high temp u read is more to do with their fondness of basking.
