Young readers will lose themselves in the Black Hills of South Dakota where animal spirits roam alongside the ghosts of history past! I really enjoyed this one, though not as much as the others. He also wrote and illustrated seven books on his own, including Baby Farm Animals (Little Golden Books) and The Rabbits’ Wedding (HarperCollins). Had an itch to reread this series again after visiting my niece who was in the process of reading them for the first time. The Ingallses' covered-wagon travels are finally over.
